Boulder County authorities are investigating allegations that David Bright — whose brother John Breaux was killed in January by an out-of-control driver — misused state money intended for Breaux’s funeral by spending it on himself.
The Boulder County Victim Compensation Board gave Bright $7,000 this past summer because members said they were under the impression Bright paid for Breaux’s funeral, according to a search warrant made public Monday. But questions have arisen about how Bright used the money.
Louisville police say they have probable cause to believe that Bright, 47, of Louisville, committed theft, according to the warrant. He has not been arrested, and officials with the district attorney’s office said the investigation is ongoing.
