The 20-year-old man found dead Wednesday in a hot tub at an Aspen condominium was from Louisville and was in the mountain community on business, the lead investigator in the case said Thursday.
Detective Chris Womack of the Aspen Police Department said the man worked for a Louisville company that installs high-end, remote- control window blinds.
The man had come to Aspen with another employee to work on a job.
Early Wednesday, the 20-year-old told his co-worker he was sick. The co-worker went to the job assignment, leaving his fellow employee at the Prospector luxury condominiums, Womack said.
About 11:29 a.m. Wednesday, employees of the Prospector entered the condominium at 301 E. Hyman St. to clean it. There, they found the 20-year-old unconscious and not breathing in the hot tub. The hot tub is in the condominium unit.
Emergency personnel attempted to revive the young man with CPR and defibrillation but were unsuccessful.
Womack said the cause of death is not known. He said it will be several weeks before toxicology reports are completed.
The man’s family has been notified, but his name has not been released.
