The identity of a man who was fatally shot by a police SWAT team has been released.
Matthew Kraber, 34, was shot multiple times early Friday morning by members of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and SWAT were called at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday to his home, in the 11300 block of West Crestline Drive, on a report that he was inside firing a gun, the sheriff’s office said.
After several hours of futile negotiations, and the firing of tear gas into the home in an unsuccessful attempt to flush Kraber out, SWAT officers entered the home at about 12:45 a.m. Friday.
Kraber pointed a hand gun at officers, the sheriff’s office said, and more than one SWAT member fired.
He was taken to Swedish Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The fatal shooting is under investigation.
