COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Jury selection has begun for the trial of a Fort Carson soldier accused of killing two Colorado Springs residents while they were putting up garage sale signs last year.
Attorneys started jury selection Tuesday and will continue Wednesday in the first-degree murder trial of decorated Iraq War veteran Pfc. Jomar Falu-Vives. The 25-year-old is accused in the drive-by shooting deaths of 21-year-old Cesar Ramirez Ibanez and 18-year-old Amairany Cervantes.
Falu-Vives has pleaded not guilty.
Earlier this year, 21-year-old Army Spc. Rodolfo Torres-Gandarilla pleaded guilty to being an accessory to the murders and agreed to testify against Falu-Vives.
