DENVER—The Denver International Airport’s chief financial officer has been placed on paid investigatory leave, airport manager Kim Day said Thursday.
Airport spokeswoman Sally Covington said Day couldn’t discuss the leave because it’s a personnel move. But the chief financial officer, Stan Koniz, told The Denver Post that Day cited insubordination, lack of collaboration and an overstepping of his authority among the reasons for her action.
“None of it is true,” said Koniz. “Any allegations are unfounded. I’ve done nothing wrong.”
Any dispute with Day may be linked to her effort over the summer to get City Council support for a possible $1 billion redevelopment of the airport’s terminal, Koniz said.
Koniz said Day didn’t consult with him about financial implications before she made a presentation on the possible remake to City Council members. After running financial models on the plan, Koniz was concerned about whether it was affordable, he said.
Covington said Day’s action wasn’t connected to financial modeling for the south terminal.
