The Colorado high school cross country championships joined field hockey and football in postponing crucial contests this weekend after the Front Range was dumped on by the season’s first big snow storm.
The four classes of boys and girls cross country championships, originally scheduled to run Saturday at Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins, were bumped one week until Nov. 7 at 9:30 a.m. The course around Fossil Ridge was reported to have 18 inches of snow on Thursday.
Snow also wreaked havoc on the girls field hockey semifinals, which were supposed to have been played Wednesday. Instead, those games are now scheduled for Monday at Stadium in Parker, with Colorado Academy going against Kent Denver and Smoky Hill facing Denver East.
The early rounds of the boys soccer state tournament have until Monday to play their games. Classes 5A and 3A are in the first round of the tournament, 4A is in the second round.
And many of the full slate of football games this weekend have been postponed. An updated schedule of those games can be found at .
