Wyoming 65, Denver 62.

Emma Langford led three Cowgirls in double figures with 15 points as Wyoming ruined the host Pioneers’ season opener for the the second year in a row.

DU head coach Erik Johnson was happy with how his team started the game, especially defensively, but “too many mistakes in the second cost us,” Johnson said. “I have to hand it to Wyoming — they made huge shot after huge shot.”

Hillary Carlson and Aubrey Vandiver each had 14 points for Wyoming. The Pioneers were led by double-doubles by senior Ashly Robinson (12 points, 12 rebounds) and sophomore Kaetlyn Murdoch (10 points, 13 rebounds). Britteni Rice was DU’s leading scorer with 16 points.

Colorado State 72, Montana 64.

Meghan Heimstra scored 13 of her 16 points in the second half and led the Rams in rebounding with 11 as CSU came from behind to win its season opener.

The Rams trailed by three points at the half and rallied behind Heimstra and Kim Mestdagh, who scored 12 of her team-best 17 points in the second half. The other key contributor was Natalie Van Den Adel, who scored 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 65, Air Force 46.

Raimee Beck had 21 points and eight rebounds, and Alicia Leipprandt added 11 points for the visiting Falcons, who fell behind 6-0 to start the game. Air Force rallied to tie the game at 14 and trailed 23-19 at halftime. The Islanders put the game away with a 23-11 run to start the second half.

New Mexico 81, Northern Colorado 59.

The host Lobos held the Bears to .310 shooting while winning the first-round preseason WNIT game.

Senior Whitley Cox led UNC with 14 points, and redshirt freshman Lauren Oosdyke added 13.
