This rousing, goofily moving adventure is set in a time — as much as a space-time-defying ride can be — when Kirk and Spock were Starfleet Academy rivals. His face a chisled work of art, Isaach de Bankole mesmerizes as the calm, observant outlaw in Jim Jarmusch’s methodically moody crime story. A job leads the Lone Man to Spain, where he has a series of encounters and exchanges with enigmatic figures. Bill Murray makes a fascinating and rough appearance. Others playing well their inscrutable parts: Tilda Swinton, Hiam Abbass and John Hurt, to name a few. Flamenco star La Truco wows in a scene that reminds us how magical it can be — like our mysterious guide — to be a stranger in a strange land. R. 1 hour, 54 minutes. Lisa Kennedy
