Bikes are nice.

But on frigid, icy mornings, they may not be the best high-speed getaway vehicle for a bank robber.

At 9:45 a.m. today, 41-year-old Dion K. Morgan allegedly held up the Liberty Savings Bank at 7575 W. Jewell Avenue in Lakewood.

According to bank employees, a gun-wielding Morgan came into the bank, demanded money, took the cash and jumped on a bike to make his getaway.

Five minutes later, Lakewood police agents spotted Morgan on a bike at Florida Avenue and Carr Street and pulled him over.

In his possession were both the gun and money.

He was taken to the Lakewood Police department where he was booked for investigation of armed robbery.

Morgan is expected to be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail and appear in court Wednesday.
