BRUSH, Colo.—A northern Colorado family is out of their home but glad to be unhurt after a basketball-sized chunk of ice fell through their roof over the weekend.

Danelle Hagan and her 9-year-old daughter were at home in Brush Saturday morning when they heard the kitchen ceiling come crashing down.

Hagan told KMGH-TV in Denver that the crash was “terrifying” but that no one was hurt.

The Federal Aviation Administration was sending investigators to the home Wednesday to investigate whether the ice came from an airplane passing overhead. An FAA spokesman said the ice chunk could be “blue ice” from an airplane toilet or “Rime ice” that can build up on the outside of a plane.
