Thomas William Boyle, 48, of Lakewood, is being held for investigation of vehicular homicide, felony hit and run and driving under the influence in connection with the death of a pedestrian killed last night in Lakewood.

The pedestrian, Raymond Rivera, was trying to cross Harlan Street at Alameda Avenue when he was hit, said Steve Davis, spokesman for the Lakewood Police Department.

According to Davis, the 48-year-old Rivera of Denver was hit about 6 p.m. by a white Ford van that was northbound on Harlan Street.

Although the van left the scene, witnesses were able to give police a description of the vehicle.

A short time later, a Lakewood police agent stopped the van on Third Avenue west of Sheridan Boulevard.

Agents suspect that alcohol was a contributing factor to the accident, although toxicology results are pending, said Davis.
