Denver police are awaiting autopsy results and notification of next of kin before releasing the identity of the man found dead this morning in an alley behind 3376 Blake St. in northeast Denver.
The victim of the suspected homicide had injuries consistent with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. The body was found about 6:51 a.m. by a passerby, said Sonny Jackson, a Denver Police Department spokesman.
The area is a mixture of light industrial businesses and urban lofts that have sprung up in the area to the northeast of Coors Field.
Homicide detectives and other crime-scene investigators quickly arrived at the scene.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives and police officers scoured the alley and checking nearby garbage dumpsters, looking for a weapon or other evidence. They also wrote down the license plate numbers of cars parked in the area and interviewed passersby.
Police wouldn’t release any information about any evidence obtained.
Police cordoned off the alley between Blake and Walnut Streets. The alley runs between 33rd and 34th Streets.
Denver police are asking if anyone heard or saw anything suspicious in the area of the 3300 block of Blake and the 3300 Larimer Street to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
