The Broncos-Raiders rivalry might be more intense, but the Broncos-Chargers series has deeper roots.

When Denver plays San Diego on Sunday at 2:15 p.m. at Invesco Field at Mile High, it will be the 100th regular-season meeting between the teams.

The Chargers will be the first team the Broncos have faced 100 times in the regular season. Only the Raiders come close — the Broncos have played Oakland 98 times in the regular season.

Here are some more numbers:

  •  The Broncos lead the all-time series with the Chargers 54-44-1.

  •  The Broncos are 35-13-1 playing in Denver. But the Chargers have won two of the past three at Invesco.

  •  The Los Angeles Chargers won the teams’ first matchup, 23-19 on Oct. 16, 1960. Denver won the most recent game, 34-23 over San Diego on Oct. 19.

  •  The Broncos enter on a three-game losing skid while the Chargers have won four straight.
