BRECKENRIDGE, Colo.—A 14-year-old Colorado Springs girl has died after an accident on an intermediate trail at Breckenridge Ski Resort.
Summit County Coroner Joanne Richardson says witnesses reported seeing Haley Rose Gans skiing very fast into a tree Friday. Richardson says the cause of death appears to be related to blunt force trauma to the chest.
The resort says ski patrol was summoned to the trail at 11:48 a.m. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The resort said she was wearing a helmet.
Breckenridge opened for the season Nov. 12.
