Volunteers gave out about 8,000 dinner baskets Saturday to needy families.
About 170 tons of food were distributed by the Epworth Foundation, Sam’s Club and Wal-Mart during “Denver Feed a Family,” a continuation of the tradition started by restaurant owner Daddy Bruce Randolph in 1964.
Each family got enough to make a holiday meal for eight people.
