LINCOLN, Neb.—Nebraska nose tackle Ndamukong Suh (en-DOM-uh-ken Soo) has been named the Big 12’s defensive player of the year in a vote of the coaches.

The conference announced the award Tuesday.

Suh also was named defensive lineman of the year. The senior from Portland, Ore., has made a team-leading 65 tackles, including 6.5 sacks, for the 21st-ranked Cornhuskers.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Suh is a finalist for several major awards, including the Outland Trophy and Lombardi Award.
