Denver metro area residents can expect slick streets with temperatures below freezing and more snow over the next two days.

The National Weather Service predicted a 20 percent chance of snow for today, rising to 50 percent in the evening. Temperatures are expected to hover in the low 20s.

Up to 3 inches of snow is likely Tuesday, and temperatures are expected to remain below 20 degrees.

The Weather Service expects the snow to clear out by Wednesday, though skies will stay partly cloudy through the rest of the week. It could be Thursday before the temperature climbs above freezing.

Heavy snow is expected in the high country, and a major winter storm could drop up to 2 feet today and Tuesday. Tom McGhee, The Denver Post
