ASPEN, Colo.—Pitkin County commissioners have decided a landowner must remove seven trees planted without approval, so that mountain views from a road are preserved.
Commissioners made their decision Wednesday.
The five spruces and two cottonwoods were among vegetation planted around irrigation ponds several years ago, but the landscaping went beyond an approved plan at the time. Commissioners were concerned that the eventual height and width of the new trees would block scenic views.
Landowner Patti Wheeler says she expects the trees will be cut down.
