A fatal motorcycle accident in Boulder this morning claimed the life of Bradley Grant Smock, 54, of Northglenn, the Boulder Coroner’s Office said.

The accident occurred about 5:30 a.m. at South Boulder Road and Manhattan and resulted in numerous road closures in Boulder for several hours.

Sarah Huntley, spokeswoman for the Boulder Police Department, said the investigation into the accident is on-going.

However, she added that at this point it appears that Smock headed onto South Boulder Road from U.S. 36 and lost control of the motorcycle and crashed.

Smock was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene, said Huntley.

During the morning, South Boulder Road was closed from Foothills Parkway to Manhattan. The off-ramp from U.S. 36 leading to South Boulder Road was also closed.

However, the RTD park-n-Ride garage remained accessible.

Huntley announced shortly after 11 a.m. that all the roads had re-opened.
