EL PASO COUNTY — El Paso County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a wanted man after a standoff that began with a domestic violence call.

A negotiator contacted the suspect and persuaded him to surrender Sunday, according to KRDO-Channel 13.

Deputies arrived at 723 Hathaway Drive outside Colorado Springs after medical first responders reported a domestic altercation about 6:30 a.m., said sheriff’s Lt. Lari Sevene.

After deputies interviewed the woman, they checked the record of the man in the apartment and found multiple warrants for felony and misdemeanor offenses, Sevene said.

She didn’t know what he is wanted for.

Residents in nearby apartments were evacuated. It remains unclear whether he had a weapon.

“We just want to get to him and talk to him and get him to come out and get this taken care of peacefully,” Sevene said before his arrest.
