LAKEWOOD — Mike Contreras is still waiting for his Christmas wish, and he is willing to pay for it.

On Dec. 20, Contreras left his 1997 black GMC Jimmy running while he dashed into the 7-Eleven at South Sheridan Boulevard and West Jewell Avenue in Lakewood. His 8-year-old dog, Madison, was in her usual spot in the front seat.

When Contreras returned three minutes later, both his truck and Madison were gone.

Sheridan police recovered the truck three days later in the 3300 block of Bryant Street. The truck had a broken windshield, destroyed interior and two life-sized nativity pieces, but the Lhasa Apso was still missing.

“We’re hoping for a happier New Year’s with our dog back,” Contreras said.

Contreras is offering a $100 reward for Madison’s return, no questions asked.

Madison walks with a limp in her right-front paw, weighs about 35 pounds and has medium-length tan fur. Anyone with information is asked to call 720-971-1288.
