FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Prosecutors have filed 13 charges against a man accused of shooting a Fort Collins officer in an exchange of gunfire with police on Christmas night.

Police say officers shot 23-year-old Andrew Nardello after he pointed a gun at officers responding to his ex-girlfriend’s home, where police say he was trespassing. Police say at least one bullet fired by Nardello struck officer Allan Heaton.

Prosecutors on Monday charged Nardello with three counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, one count each of burglary and violation of a protection order, and six crime-of-violence counts.

A judge has barred lawyers in the case from discussing it outside of court.
