Colorado Springs police have arrested a man who didn’t stick around for a jury’s verdict Tuesday after his trial on child sexual assault charges.
Theodore “Theo” William Griffin III, 23, of Colorado Springs was ultimately found guilty on three counts of sex abuse and other charges,
But while the jury was deliberating, Griffin “left the courthouse, and never returned,” police said in a statement.
Griffin was arrested Wednesday night, after Colorado Springs police officers pulled over a car leaving a home he was known to frequent, the Colorado Springs Gazette reported.
He was accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl several times in 2007.
Police said Griffin had mentioned suicide when he was reached on the phone by his defense attorney Tuesday.
His arrest history includes charges of driving under the influence, domestic violence, menacing, drug charges and public indecency, records show.
