We love emerging-market stocks, but we don’t want to commit to just one region. Investors poured a record $64.52 billion last year into developing-world stock funds, according to preliminary figures from EPFR Global.

The category, though, covers several geographic areas. It includes miners in Brazil, gas producers in Russia, above, and factories in China.

Investors last year stuck with a shotgun approach, opting for diversified emerging-market funds rather than focusing on, say, just Latin America.
