GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A Grand Junction man has been sentenced to a year in jail for illegally shooting at a bobcat decoy near Baxter Pass.

Twenty-nine-year-old Jonathan H. Gilbert also was fined $952 Friday for the shooting in January 2009. He had pleaded guilty to possession of a weapon by a previous offender and to unlawfully hunting with artificial light.

Gilbert was ticketed in April 2008 for unlawfully hunting bobcat without a license and unlawfully hunting with artificial light.

In 2003 he was ticketed for unlawfully hunting and fishing without proper licenses, unlawful possession of wildlife, and unlawfully hunting with artificial light, prompting the Division of Wildlife to suspend his hunting privileges for three years.
