A vendor who makes grave markers donated one on Monday to Judith Pyle, a woman who was beaten and raped in a Denver alley. She died shortly afterward.
Grant Hogarth of Sterling Monument Co. in Sterling said donating the marker “seemed like a worthy cause.”
The marker will be placed on her grave in 60 to 90 days, said John McGuiness of Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge.
If the cemetery continues to receive donations for Pyle’s marker, McGuiness said he will return the money with a thank-you note.
Pyle, 61, died from complications of hypothermia after she was attacked on Dec. 9, 2007, as she got off an RTD bus to walk home from work.
Willie Trimble, a nine-time felon, was linked to the attack through DNA evidence. He was convicted of her rape and murder last month and sentenced to life in prison.
