BOULDER, Colo.—Colorado tailback Demetrius Sumler has told coach Dan Hawkins he won’t be back for his senior season.

The Buffaloes say Sumler plans to graduate in May, then enroll in a graduate program at a school that might need an experienced running back.

Sumler, of San Diego, started on and off for the Buffaloes and was often their primary back in short-distance situations. In his career at Colorado, he rushed for 714 yards and nine touchdowns and caught 45 passes for 333 yards and another score.
