Snoop Dogg’s “Blazed and Confused” show at Red Rocks last July showed us a familiar side of the West Coast rapper we’ve come to know and love (or at least tolerate): the lanky, half-lidded, improbably charming MC with one foot in gangsta rap and the other in Hollywood. But along with the release of new album “Malice N Wonderland,” Snoop has recently become the creative chairman of storied hip-hop label Priority Records, making his journey from streetwise thug to corporate honcho more or less complete. Tickets for Snoop’s Jan. 30 concert at the Ogden Theatre are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($37.50, Ticketmaster)
Chelsea Handler joins top touring comedians George Lopez, Larry the Cable Guy and Brian Regan in moving to the Wells Fargo Theatre — a relatively large venue for a stand-up rivaled only by the Dane Cook-sized Pepsi Center or the Buell Theatre (which has recently hosted Bill Cosby, Jerry Seinfeld and Flight of the Conchords). Tickets for the raunchy E! TV host’s March 13 set, with opener Josh Wolf, are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($45-$65, )
Timbaland launched his “Shock Value II” tour today to promote the latest installment of various-artists album of the same name, including a Jan. 26 stop at the Gothic Theatre. Just announced: a special guest appearance at the show by Denver pop-rock titans the Fray, whose Joe King appears on the comp’s “Undertow.” Tickets for the show, with opener Ali Pierre, are on sale. ($33-$36, )
Spoon, the long-suffering indie darlings with more credibility than commercial appeal are moving up in the world with back-to-back shows at the Ogden. The band’s new album, “Transference,” out Tuesday on Merge Records, is streaming at , so head over there to hear what all the fuss is about. (Trust us, it’s justified.) Tickets for the April 5-6 shows, with openers Deerhunter and Micachu & the Shapes, are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($20-$25, Ticketmaster)
Band of Horses, the achingly gorgeous indie-twang act that slayed Red Rocks at the 2008 Monolith Music Festival, returns with a March 15 show at Boulder’s Fox Theatre and a March 16 show at the Ogden. Expect a song or two from their forthcoming album, tentatively titled “Night Rainbows,” at the concerts. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($26.50-$27, Ticketmaster or )
Slayer and Megadeth fans will have to wait a little longer to genuflect to their metal gods: the bands’ Jan. 25 double-headlining show at Magness Arena has been postponed. Slayer bassist/vocalist Tom Araya was forced to seek surgery to treat a back aliment, according to promoter Live Nation. The tour will be rescheduled and ticket holders should hold on to their tickets, which will be honored at the rescheduled date. No refund information was provided.
