The State Department has set up a hotline for Americans seeking information about family members in Haiti. The toll-free number is 888-407-4747. Some callers may receive a recording because of heavy call volume.
People who want to help those affected by the Haitian earthquake can make a donation to the American Red Cross International Response Fund by going to www.ColoradoRedCross.org/haiti or by calling 1-800-REDCROSS. Donors may also text “HAITI” to “90999” and a donation of $10 will be given to the American Red Cross to help with relief efforts.
