A free family day-pass at Winter Park bets that you’ll like new, roomy 2-bedroom condos in Fraser

Getting your player ready...

In a year when builders are starting practically no new homes in the ski towns, one developer in close-by Fraser is betting that affordably-priced 2-bedroom condos can still lure buyers…and will wager you a day’s ski pass for the family at Winter Park to come look.

“There’s nothing like this,” says Realtor Irene Jans, who’ll meet you today or tomorrow (11/28 or 11/29) at Sterling Pointe, a mile east of the Safeway in Fraser…five miles from the newly improved base mountain at Winter Park (it had its season-opener last week). “People have been waiting for killer deals, and this is a killer deal.”

With a number of homes that can deliver at $249,000, Sterling Pointe will give each of your family members a pass, good for any single day over the coming weeks. The catch is that you’ve got to walk through these sharp looking units and their big interiors…each with an attached garage. “Nothing else in Winter Park has that,” says developer Art Kleinstein, who took advantage of low construction costs to venture these now…and has seven of the first 24 under contract.

Hugh Davidson with Wintergreen Homes says the new base at Winter Park is just one reason why this is the right place to be making this move. Forty years after I-70’s completion to Dillon sent the pretty Fraser Valley into an eclipse, Winter Park is coming back into its own as a year-round resort…closer not only in miles, but more so in weekend travel time, when the Eisenhower Tunnel backs up. “Time in the car is particularly important to families,” Davidson told me on a quick drive over newly widened Berthoud Pass. “Winter Park still has that feel of a family mountain that Denver skiers like.”

Meanwhile, the Fraser Valley’s new resort-style rec center with 20-foot water slide opens Dec. 18, designed for vacationers; even as a place to drop the kids when mom and dad would rather fly-fish or cycle. What Winter Park DOESN’T have, Jans notes, is newer condo product…brighter spaces, new finishes. At Sterling Pointe, they’ll see surprisingly large units, some to 1,322 feet, all with fireplaces and kitchens with slab granite and stainless appliances…even fridge.

The $249,000 price is no loss leader–all of these have been reduced $30,000 to $70,000. If you like what you see, Sterling Pointe has financing for qualified buyers…and will comp you a package at American Furniture Warehouse, enough to furnish your entire unit in either alpine or contemporary. Take a right at the Safeway in Fraser, then east 1.2 mi. to the models.
