Three people were hospitalized early this morning following a two-county chase that began with an attempted traffic stop for speeding in Loveland and ended in a crash in Weld County, authorities say.

The conditions of the three injured people were not immediately available. One of them was flown by helicopter after being ejected from the car.

A Loveland police officer tried to pull over a car just after 12 a.m. when it was going 68 mph in a 45-mph zone, said Eloise Campanella, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office.

The car sped away and on Colorado Road 402, at 12:38 a.m. a Larimer County Sheriff’s deputy took over the pursuit, Campanella said.

Weld County deputies were in the process of placing spiked “stop sticks” on the road when the car rolled at 12:49 a.m., according to Campanella and Margie Martinez of the Weld County Sheriff’s Department.

The names of those injured have not been released.
