COPPER MOUNTAIN — A skier at Copper Mountain died from head injuries Sunday afternoon.

Denver resident Randy Schnicker was pronounced dead at St. Anthony’s Summit Medical Center in Frisco at 12:25 p.m., according to the Summit County coroner’s office.

Schnicker, 56, was wearing a helmet.

Ski Patrol responded to the call around 11 a.m. Schnicker then was transferred to St. Anthony’s.

“At Copper Mountain, the safety of our guests and employees is our top priority, and Copper wishes to express its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the gentleman involved in this accident,” Copper Mountain spokesman David Roth said in a statement.
