COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—El Paso County authorities say a 71-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly threatening a sheriff’s deputy with a rifle.
EL Paso County sheriff’s spokeswoman Lt. Lari Sevene says the deputy had gone to the home of Norma Scott on a complaint that several dogs at her house were being mistreated. Sevene says Scott grabbed a rifle and told the deputy she’d shoot him if he took any of her dogs.
Authorities say Scott’s sisters tried to take several dogs from the house in a truck but deputies later stopped them. Scott surrendered to authorities and was later released from jail on $25,000 bail. She faces charges of obstruction and first-degree assault on a peace officer.
Her sisters were cited on suspicion of obstruction of a police officer but were not jailed.
