One place that DOESN’T sound like it needs a ‘stimulus package’ is Green Valley Ranch, the master-planned community near DIA. With single-family home prices from the $120,000s and a new DPS Science and Technology campus taking shape, Oakwood Homes has been selling its sharp looking homes there like hot cakes…a dozen over the past two weeks.

But today, Oakwood is bringing its own ‘stimulus sale’ to its Green Valley Ranch model center, 48th at Ceylon St., and you and the family can enjoy a light lunch (noon-2 p.m.) and find out all about it.

“Some people who have been waiting their whole lives to buy a home are sensing that this is the moment,” says Oakwood’s Jeff Friant, who’ll be on hand today with Gary Newman to show you just how far Oakwood is willing to go to make that happen.

Take the ‘Turner’ model from Oakwood’s New Beginnings collection — over 1,600 feet, three bedrooms and two baths, plus a two-car garage. Payments on a new Turner, taxes and insurance included, at today’s low rates and 3-1/2% down run something over $1,000 a month…but Oakwood’s Stimulus Sales will bring that rate down even further now, bringing the monthly to around $846. As an option Oakwood will add a fourth bedroom and/or a basement…slightly higher price and payment…stimulus bringing it back down again. Advertisement

“That’s probably well below what they’re paying to rent an apartment that may be only around 1,000 square feet,” says Newman.

Actually, Oakwood’s recent buyers are from all over the map…some coming from out of apartments, others taking advantage of the stronger market in the low price range to sell their smaller place. Some are getting married…some are moving to be closer to grandkids, able to afford more than this, but playing it conservative.

And more than a few, Newman adds, have kids and are looking at that new E-12 School of Science and Technology campus, the first new high school built in Denver in 30 years, already very prominent along 48th as you enter Green Valley Ranch from Pena Boulevard. Newman knows how kid-friendly Green Valley Ranch is: His own model home from Oakwood’s super-affordable New Beginnings II collection is across from Green Valley West Park…crowded any October Saturday morning with kids’ football leagues. Parking at New Beginnings II is tight today.

So start your tour at the larger New Beginnings/Carson Collection models at 48th & Ceylon where the lunch will be served, and Newman will be happy to run you over to see New Beginnings II. Oakwood’s Stimulus Sale applies to all three collections: New Beginnings, Carson, and Parkwood.
