Highlights from the Legislature on Tuesday:
— The Senate gave final approval to denying $130 million in funding to public schools to help balance the budget. The measure (Senate Bill 65) now heads to the House.
New Bills
— Make animal control officers peace officers limited to enforcement of animal control (House Bill 1124).
— Allow the Department of Public Health and Environment to regulate the disposal of food grease (House Bill 1125).
— Allow local governments to impose fees, licenses or taxes on cigarettes without losing state cigarette tax revenues (House Bill 1121).
— Allow Mesa State College to offer graduate programs (Senate Bill 79).
— Allow senior citizens to buy a lifetime pass to state parks (Senate Bill 71).
