The UMS may not be old enough to drink, but the event — dubbed the South by Southwest of Denver by numerous critics (and not just our own!) — is certainly old enough to dodge Grandma’s head-mussing advances. That’s right: The Denver Post’s 10th annual Underground Music Showcase is going to be bigger and better than ever during its decade celebration July 22-25. The region’s largest music festival will offer more than 300 local and national bands, singer-songwriters, DJs and comedians at 25 venues along the bustling South Broadway corridor. The best part? Buy your wristbands now and they’re only $20 for all four days, or $50 for a VIP badge that allows you line-skipping privileges and access to late-night parties with exclusive talent. (Prices go up starting March 31.) Visit theums for all the details. Garth Brooks recently signed on for a series of shows at the Wynn Las Vegas over the next five years, so it’s no surprise the “retired” pop-country superstar got talked into playing a benefit for Denver Health by friend (and gala chairwoman) Sharon Magness Blake. Individual tickets for the April 24 event at the National Western Events Center are not available, but interested parties can buy table sponsorships ($5,000 for 10 people) to the black-tie event, which includes a meal, drinks, a live auction and five additional concert tickets. Contact Candice Jones for passes. (303-602-2978 or candice.jones@dhha.org) Comfort Dental Amphitheatre is the clumsy and already-ridiculed new name of Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre, formerly Coors Amphitheatre (formerly “that giant bowl in the middle of the Denver Tech Center”). And while it doesn’t have the same bucolic ring as “Fiddler’s Green,” we’re pretty sure fans of Chicago and the Doobie Brothers (scheduled to play there June 23), Korn and Rob Zombie (July 18) and Tim McGraw and Lady Antebellum (July 31) won’t shy away just because of some root canal connotations. Visit for details. Daughtry, one of the first “American Idol” finalists to break out of the R&B/soul mold with his slick pop-rock sound, has been added to the early season roster of recently rechristened Odeum (formerly the Broomfield Event Center). Tickets for his April 20 show with opener Cavo are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($25.50-$35.50, TicketHorse) Citizen Cope, a.k.a. singer-songwriter Clarence Greenwood, returns to Colorado with an Ogden Theatre set on April 16. Tickets are on sale. ($27.50, Ticketmaster) Also at the Ogden: English pop-rockers Gomez, supporting new album “A New Tide,” on March 8 — their first Denver show in three years. Tickets are on sale. ($25, Ticketmaster)
