WASHINGTON — Late-night comic Jay Leno will be the featured entertainer at the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.
WHCA president Ed Chen said the black-tie, nationally televised dinner is set for May 1.
The dinner is traditionally attended every year by the U.S. president, who delivers a comic keynote that sometimes surpasses the hired entertainment.
Also Friday, Oprah Winfrey said she is set to interview Leno, who has been in the news lately for an ugly dispute over NBC’s late-night lineup. Her production company said an offer has been made to late night’s Conan O’Brien to appear.
Winfrey said she was going to Los Angeles for a “one-on-one” interview with Leno.
The interview will air on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on Thursday. The Associated Press
