BOULDER, Colo.—A Longmont cop who shot and Tasered a suspect in a December domestic violence incident has been cleared of wrongdoing.

Officer Justin Ownbey shot a domestic violence suspect twice with a Taser, and once with a bullet, after the suspect tussled with four officers on Dec. 23. A review released Monday said that the suspect, 38-year-old Anthony Donald Chavez, put an officer in a headlock and reached for an officer’s gun.

Ownbey then shot Chavez in the lower torso. Ownbey was placed on administrative leave pending the review.

Chavez’ injuries weren’t life-threatening. He faces menacing, false imprisonment and child abuse charges.
