PLATTEVILLE, Colo.—Police say a 30-year-old man who tried to run down an officer was shot and killed by the officer.
Matthew Herrera lived in the mobile home park where the shooting occurred early Wednesday and he died a short time later at a hospital.
Platteville Police Chief Troy Renken says the officer was shaken up by the incident.
Weld County Undersheriff Margie Martinez says the shooting followed a series of incidents that included a police chase of a suspect.
Martinez says that at one point an officer told the driver to get out of the car, but the man began driving directly at the officer.
She says at that point the officer shot at the suspect, hitting him and stopping the vehicle.
