FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Gun owners aren’t happy about a looming ban on concealed weapons at the Colorado State University campuses.
Gun owners were headed to a Monday news conference at the Fort Collins campus to decry plans to ban guns on campus except for law enforcement. CSU campuses in Fort Collins and Pueblo are expected to ban guns by the end of this school year. They are among just a handful of campuses nationwide where concealed weapons are permitted.
Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden was scheduled to attend Monday’s news conference to give his opinion on the ban. Student groups at both campuses have said they oppose the bans, though faculty support them.
The CSU System Board of Governors is set to consider the bans later this month.
