LONGMONT, Colo.—A Longmont woman is headed to a parole hearing to argue against the release of the man who had her mother killed. It’s her own father.

Mary Ann Bryan was killed in 1981 outside a Longmont pharmacy. Her ex-husband, Herbert Marant, was convicted of hiring an ex-felon to murder Bryan after she won a custody battle for their daughter.

Marant faces his fourth parole hearing Monday. The Colorado State Board of Parole has rejected his release three times, each time with the testimony of Marant’s daughter, Jennifer Deeter.

The Boulder County District Attorney’s Office has also requested the board deny parole, saying the Bryan murder was one of the most heinous crimes in county history.
