Lindsey Vonn seems poised to be become America’s sweetheart.
The Vail resident will grace one of two covers of Sports Ilustrated’s Winter Olympic preview issue, which touts her as “America’s Best Woman Skier Ever.” The Penguins’ Sidney Crosby is on the other cover.
Vonn appears ready to take the Vancouver Olympics by storm.
“Now I feel like I’m ready,” Vonn said after winning a super-G race at St. Moritz last weekend, her final World Cup event before the Feb. 12-28 Games. “I’m definitely in the best shape I’ve ever been in. Mentally and physically prepared.”
Vonn completed her 26-race, pre-Olympic program with nine wins, confident and injury-free.
