GREELEY — Greeley authorities say window frost may have obscured the vision of a teenage driver who was struck by a bus, resulting in his sister’s death.
Investigators say 16-year-old Francisco Mendoza- Gonzalez was making a turn from a stop sign when his car was hit broadside Tuesday morning by a school bus. Mendoza-Gonzalez was on his way to school with his 15-year-old sister, Karla Mendoza-Gonzalez, and 14-year- old passenger Nehimiah Pizarro.
One student on the school bus was injured but did not require hospitalization.
Officials say Karla Mendoza-Gonzalez was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Her brother remains hospitalized, but Pizarro has been released.
