In a year when the ‘McMansion’ is out and affordable is back in, KB Home has a hit on its hands with ‘The Open Series’–single-family designs that drew five sales at Parkfield near DIA since Jan. 1…and another nine in Loch Buie. But an internal study by KB shows that the place that buyers really want to see some creative, affordable homes is along southeast E-470, with its Cherry Creek Schools and Southlands Shopping Center. And that’s exactly what’s happening today.

Come visit K.B. Home at its newly opened sales center, across from the pool complex in Wheatlands (just east on Smoky Hill from Southlands), and they’ll give you a $10 Panera Bread card (while they last) and put you on a VIP list for special events when The Open Series has its grand opening in April. You can already see the pool…Cherry Creek’s new Elementary School No. 41 under construction down the block…and the public swim beach at Aurora Reservoir a half mile away.

“Everybody loves this series,” says Amy Baumert, who’s been selling the series at some of those other neighborhoods, and who’ll be on hand today with Brian Zell to show you the plans. “Other builders don’t understand the flow of the spaces the way our designers do.”
These homes will all have Energy Star features…have a partial basement and option for full basement (creating possibilities for walk-outs and garden levels on some of these sites)…and offer big value in size and bedroom count: 1,271 square feet to over 2,600…five bedrooms in one plan. Hard-and-fast prices won’t be released until the grand opening, but pricing will be from around $220,000 and up.

K.B. is creating special architecture for the very attractive surroundings at Wheatlands…farmhouse, colonial or craftsman styling. Buyers here will also get “Built to Order” options that give you tools providing great flexibility on how your home is built out.

Dropping in today is the ONLY way to get the Panera card…but it’s just one way to get on the VIP list for the opening events. You can call…or you can come to a “How to Buy a Home” seminar at K.B.’s design studio, Feb. 13, 7807 E. Peakview, Ste. 100, in the Tech Center (280 people turned out in January!). And if you don’t want to wait until April, you can leave a $500 deposit today to be at the top of the list.

“There are only 75 sites, it’s not a huge neighborhood,” Zell noted, while he and Baumert readied the office for today’s opening. As we talked, one buyer was already walking in to sign up…
