Carrie Underwood turned heads at the Super Bowl last Sunday with a piercing rendition of the national anthem, delivered from a much-discussed, relatively risque (for the Super Bowl, anyway) outfit of tight-white jeans atop platform pumps. The country-pop vocalist, who ascended thanks to a 2005 win on “American Idol,” will bring those strong pipes and high heels to the 1stBank Center (formerly the Odeum, formerly the Broomfield Event Center) for a June 3 concert with Craig Morgan and Sons of Sylvia. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($35-$55, TicketHorse)
3OH!3 and Cobra Starship are co-headlining MTV’s “Too Fast For Love” tour, slated to play the Fillmore Auditorium on May 21 with openers Travis McCoy (of Gym Class Heroes) and I Fight Dragons. Boulder’s 3OH!3, of course, is on fire right now and already recording the follow-up to 2008’s “Want,” which broke the frat-friendly rap duo nationally and led to collaborations with Katy Perry, Ke$ha and others. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($25, )
String Cheese Incident tickets for the July 23-25 shows at Red Rocks went unexpectedly fast during an online pre-sale earlier this week, according to promoters, so be at the ready 10 a.m. Saturday for the public on-sale. ($47.50, Ticketmaster)
Them Crooked Vultures suffered (or perhaps caused) an atrocious sound mix during the rock supergroup’s two-song “Saturday Night Live” appearance last week, so let’s hope that John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters) and Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) will fare better at the Fillmore Auditorium on April 19. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($49.50-$55, )
Flobots, a Denver hip-hop/rock act that represents the conscious, politically aware opposite of 3OH!3’s mindless party grooves, will celebrate the release of its new CD “Survival Story” on March 12 at the Ogden Theatre. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($22-$25, Ticketmaster)
Sigur Ros fans welcomed the news this week that lead singer Jonsi is visiting the Paramount Theatre on April 21 to promote his forthcoming solo album, “Go,” which drops a couple weeks before the show. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. today ($27.50-$35, TicketHorse). Journey fans can also stop by the Bluebird Theater on March 17 to see founding guitarist Neal Schon play a solo set, with tickets on sale at 10 a.m. today ($30-$35, Ticketmaster).
