A man was struck and killed by a GMC Yukon as he was bending over in an intersection to pick something up off the street, authorities say.
The names of the victim and the driver of the GMC have not been released.
The victim was crossing Wadsworth Boulevard at West 17th Avenue in Lakewood at 10:05 p.m. when he kneeled down to pick something up that he had dropped in the right lane and was struck by the GMC, according to a news release.
The pedestrian was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
The accident is under investigation.
