Getting your player ready...
LINCOLN, Neb.—Nebraska Game and Parks officials say there are plenty of rabbits to carry young hunters through the current cottontail hunting season.
The season runs through Feb. 28, meaning mentors still have an opportunity to help novices gain some hunting experience by going on a rabbit hunt.
Experts say tracking rabbits in the snow is easy for new hunters and is a good way to learn how many cottontails use an area and what types of cover they prefer.
Overgrown weedy fence lines are good places to find rabbits, especially those located next to fields of corn stubble.
The daily bag limit is seven rabbits, and the possession limit is 28. Shooting hours are 30 minutes before sunrise to sunset.
