CENTENNIAL, Colo.—Arapahoe County Sheriff’s officials say an inmate accused of first-degree murder jumped to his death from the second floor of a jail walkway.

Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson says 54-year-old Roberto Silva fell about 18 feet onto a concrete floor a Monday morning. Robinson says medical personnel at the county jail provided first aid after the fall but Silva died from his injuries.

The Denver Post reports that Silva was accused of fatally shooting 51-year-old Narima Dzhulfayeva in the parking lot of a Glendale hotel Sunday morning. Police say Silva and the woman were in a relationship but she was leaving the hotel after a dispute.

Robinson says investigators have determined Silva’s death was a suicide.
