This story ends at Wendy’s but it started on Craigslist. There was a living room set posted for sale on the web site last week that a family in Cheyenne just had to have.

Last weekend, Lisa Valencia, her fiancé and their two children drove down to Aurora to pick it up. After they loaded the truck, they started home. They did not get far before hunger struck.

They stopped at the Wendy’s just off Interstate 25 in Denver. Valencia’s fiancé jumped out of the truck without realizing his wallet fell to the ground. In it were credit cards, IDs and $1,200 cash. He had that much because the furniture deal, like most Craigslist deals, was cash only.

“We stopped on I-25 and realized it was gone,” Valencia said. “I immediately started crying and thought, ‘Please, please, I hope someone found it.'”

Someone did. Maricella Juarez was just coming into work when she spotted the wallet on the ground. She picked it up and gave it to her manager, who put it in the store safe.

“You hear so much bad in the world and here’s something so wonderful, that people really do care and they are willing to help each other,” Valencia said.
