American snowboarder Lindsey Jacobellis is a rebel to the bitter end.
Her shot at Olympic redemption gone after getting bumped off course and eliminated from a quest for a gold medal during the semifinals of the snowboardcross competition, Jacobellis defiantly celebrated the final jump of a dream-crushing race by reaching down to clutch her snowboard in midair.
“I just felt like doing a good truck-driver grab,” Jacobellis said Tuesday. “I figured I’d have some fun and show them I still have passion for the sport.”
Four years ago in Turin, leading the Olympic finals in the same event, Jacobellis cost herself a gold medal with a controversial hot-dog move, crashing while attempting a mute grab on her way to the finish line and had to settle for silver.
